SHORT FILM
PRODUCTION
PITCH
I pitched my short film ideas to my class at the beginning of our second-to-last quarter, which consisted of a short synopsis and some rough concept drawings.
CONCEPT
After settling on an idea for my short film, I created concept designs for my character, eventually settling on the design I used in the film. I was also refining the script, which went through MANY iterations before I felt satisfied with it.
STORYBOARDS
When I finished the script, I started storyboarding the poses and expressions.
BUILD
At the tail end of the quarter, I got to work on the rig I would be using. It was my first time building a rig, so I was lucky to have instructors around who I could get advice from. I ended up with a rig that, although it has its flaws, was functional enough that I was able to produce the animation for my film without much trouble.
BACKGROUNDS
Backgrounds aren't my strong suit, and I wanted to devote the majority of my time to the animation, so I opted for more simplistic backgrounds.
ANIMATION
The animation is what I put most of my time into during the last quarter of the program. I had a lot of fun, and I think I did a good job with the expressions and the angling of the robot's body!
